I've taught and mentored students all over the United States from Alaska to Maine, and even in the middle of the Pacific Ocean
on a small island nation, in arts, science and wellness. |
MY STUDENT-CENTERED TEACHING PHILOSOPHY
I believe all students learn differently and it's my job to meet each student where they are.
I engage students in their learning processes through inquiry-based learning practices, student-led research, and creative exploration.
I listen and respond to the evolving needs of any students I teach with resourcefulness and an open-mind.

I incorporate self-reflection, inspired research and identity-based creative work through an application of the experimental learning theory:
experience --> observe/reflect --> think/research -->build/create

MENTORSHIP
Working with Alaska's only tribal college, Iḷisaġvik, and Dartmouth College, I've mentored dozens of Alaskan Native and Native Alaskan students in college success habits, and healthy lifestyles and perspectives.
I've also provided resources and support to students and recent graduates with children through a child services grant with the Arctic Slope Native Association.
